Southwestern Decor Style
by Megan Thriepland
This style originated in 16th century Mexico, and its key elements include rough hewn wood, cozy plaids, Native American style patterns, worn leather and sturdy woven fabrics and suede, along with natural elements such as stone brick and wood. Colour schemes often include terra-cotta, bright yellow, turquoise, dusty orange, browns and other earth tones. This style also uses large scale furniture embellished with burnished metal, and accessories often include wrought iron, horse imagery, pottery and brightly painted ceramics and tiles.
